Somehow I find myself aged 65 and with an annuity, a small pension, and the state pension coming with my next birthday.
I am still working but for the minimum wage because my job is somewhat vocational as a Support Worker.
I'm surprised at the conflicting feelings about retiring. I thought it would be a straightforward choice of how and when I reduced my hours but I've discovered the absence of work will leave me without a sense of purpose for my existence...
Well three weeks later and I feel less conflicted. I'm having an appraisal in January and then I'll request a drop from five to four work days per week. I should easily afford that financially and at the same time all the people I work with will barely notice my extra"off day".
Why did it feel so tricky before? Bit of a mystery.. but all good now.
